Milan rally commemorates Iranian, Palestinian children killed in war
Artists and demonstrators in Milan, Italy, have commemorated children killed in Iranian southern city of Minab and Gaza during events marking the 82nd anniversary of the Gorla school massacre in World War Two.
According to Isar News, The commemorations took place in recent days as Italy marked the anniversary of the October 20, 1944, bombing of the Francesco Crispi elementary school in Milan’s Gorla district, in which 184 children and 19 school staff members were killed.
For the first time, Italy’s parliament this year recognized the anniversary as a national day of remembrance for children who are victims of war.
Participants drew parallels between the Gorla massacre, the killing of children at an elementary school in Minab, and the deaths of children in Gaza, paying tribute to the victims of all three tragedies.
Media activist Zio Filippo accompanied demonstrators from Piazza Repubblica to Piazza Venezia, using music videos to engage the public in the commemorations.
Italian artists also released a song titled “Gorla, Minab, Gaza” in memory of children killed in war.
Eighty-two years after the Gorla school bombing, the deaths of 157 Iranian schoolchildren in Minab during US-Israeli-imposed war against Iran have brought renewed attention to the killing of innocent children during armed conflicts.
