US failed to achieve all its stated objectives in war with Iran: IRGC spokesperson

Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi says the United States failed to achieve all of its stated objectives in its war against Iran, reaching a point of desperation in less than 20 days and seeking intermediaries to negotiate an end to the conflict.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Mohebbi said the speed at which the US objectives declined and the country became desperate to achieve its goals was unprecedented.

He contrasted the conflict with US wars in Vietnam and Korea, saying Washington fought in Vietnam for nearly 20 years before suffering defeat and in Korea for three years before being forced into a form of retreat.

“In Iran, however, after fighting for less than 20 days, it reached a point of desperation and began seeking intermediaries for negotiations and an end to the war,” he said.

Mohebbi said Washington had sought to change Iran’s political system and force the country into unconditional surrender, but failed to achieve either objective.

He added that the US also sought to seize Iran’s resources and oil wells, eliminate its nuclear capabilities and missile power, and partition parts of the country and hand them over to others.

“These were among the US stated objectives, while its unstated objectives are a separate matter,” the IRGC spokesperson said, stressing that Washington ultimately failed to achieve all of them.

Mohebbi said the developments need to be properly explained and documented, adding that journalists and media outlets had an important role to play in doing so.
