Speaker Ghalibaf vows justice for slain police official in southeast Iran
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has vowed that those responsible for the assassination of Nosrat Eftekhari, a senior police official in Sistan-Baluchestan Province, will face justice, praising her efforts to address local communities’ problems and strengthen social cohesi
Ghalibaf said in a message on Saturday that Eftekhari, deputy for cultural and social affairs at the Sistan-Baluchestan provincial police command, was killed while serving the public.
He described her as a highly educated and dedicated woman who worked in remote, underserved areas, addressing the concerns of local communities and ethnic groups while promoting trust and solidarity.
Ghalibaf said the terrorist attack demonstrated that those seeking to undermine Iran’s security could not tolerate officials working to solve public problems and reinforce social ties. He called on authorities to pursue the case fully until all those who carried out or ordered the attack are identified and decisively punished.
The speaker added that targeting public servants reflected the perpetrators’ strategic desperation in the face of the country’s social capital, warning that attacks on such individuals would carry a cost.
He said continuing direct engagement with communities, addressing deprivation and strengthening unity among ethnic and religious groups were essential to honoring Eftekhari’s legacy.
Ghalibaf extended condolences to her family, colleagues, fellow officers, and the people of Sistan-Baluchestan and Iran, and prayed for patience and peace for her bereaved relatives.
