Iran will never allow US warships to re-enter Persian Gulf: Top commander
Major General Ali Abdollahi, Chief of the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, has vowed that Iran will never allow US warships to re-enter the Persian Gulf, saying American forces would not dare approach the region’s waters.
According to Isar News, “Under no circumstances and at no time will we allow US military vessels to enter the Persian Gulf,” Abdollahi said.
The commander, who also heads the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Iran’s Armed Forces have rendered the US Navy ineffective, despite Washington’s portrayal of it as a symbol of American power.
He said US President Donald Trump and other American officials have repeatedly claimed that Iran’s nuclear facilities were destroyed while continuing to insist that Tehran must not possess nuclear weapons.
“If you have destroyed everything, then what does repeating this nonsense mean?” Abdollahi asked, describing the statements as contradictory and intended to mislead public opinion around the world, particularly in the United States.
He also questioned why American warships and military personnel have not approached the Strait of Hormuz or Iran’s maritime and land borders if Washington was certain that Iran’s military capabilities were eliminated.
“The US president must dream of his military and army entering the Persian Gulf again. They will take this wish to their graves forever,” Abdollahi said.
He further said Iran’s leadership, people, armed forces and officials were determined to push the United States and Israel deeper into a quagmire of their own making.
Abdollahi said Iran’s strategy was to ensure that a prolonged confrontation would further weaken its enemies.
“With the help of Almighty God and divine support, the strategy of a strong Iran is that the longer this confrontation continues, the further you will sink into the swamp of death and decline,” he said.
In July, the Iranian Armed Forces declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all traffic after the US conducted waves of deadly air raids on Iran and imposed a naval blockade of the country in violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Republic, signed on June 17.
The US and the Israeli regime launched their first war of aggression against Iran, which lasted 12 days, in June 2025. Their second war began on February 28, 2026, and came to a halt in early April after 40 days.
